Was a wonderful twilight performance featuring Dimity Shepherd, Byron Watson and Helen Barnett accompaniedby Simon Kenway Conductor for Opera Australia. This was a creative industries project of Arts out West, supported and funded by the NSW Government through the Department of Industry and Investment and Cabonne Council.

The Stars

Dimity recently appeared in the World premieres of the new Australian Operas Through the Looking Glass (Victorian Opera/ Alice) and The Children’s Bach (Chamber Made), for which she received a Green Room Award nomination.

Byron Watson 

In February Byron appeared in concert in Sydney with Simon Kenway at the piano and was broadcast on ABCByron-Watson.jpg Classic FM. In 2008/2009 Byron appeared as Harry and understudied Richard E Grant as Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady with Opera Australia, which toured to Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney, and New Zealand. Byron is also a regular and popular guest artist for High Tea at Sydney Opera House.


Helen Barnett


Born and raised on a farm at Narromine in central western NSW, Sopranosimon-&-helen-2.jpg Helen Barnett is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Diploma of Opera and Graduate Diploma of Music (Opera), finishing top of her postgraduate year with a High Distinction. She has also gained the Fellowship in Music from the AMEB (The AMEB’s highest award).


Simon Kenway

In 2008 he conducted OzOpera’s Madama Butterfly for Opera Australia and will return to the company to conduct this production again in 2009. OtherSimon-kenway-1.jpg engagements for 2009 include conducting L’elisir d’amore for City of Perth’s Opera in the Park presented by West Australian Opera and his ongoing position as pianist for the High Tea programme at Sydney Opera House.
